I have been writing for a variety of magazines and websites for more than 15 years.
Magazines have been a staple in my life since I picked up my first YM (Young and Modern) magazine at the age of 13. It was America’s equivalent to Dolly and Cleo. Once I read an issue, they joined a stack of magazines in my closet which I referred to time and again when I wanted advice, fashion insp or to re-read an interested article.
My love for the magazine industry began whilst completing my Bachelor Degree in Journalism in 2005. I landed a dream gig doing work experience with ACP, which ignited my passion for the medium. Upon completing my work experience, I continued my working relationship with the company for over a decade as a regular freelancer for Cosmopolitan Pregnancy Magazine and Cosmopolitan Health and Wellbeing Magazine.
In 2017, I helped the company I was working for to launch Kids Magazine, in which I was the sole journalist, editorial coordinator and proofreader. The magazine features news, advice, and entertainment ideas for parents, relatives and teachers of young children. I was also responsible for uploading relevant content and breaking news to the website and corresponding social media pages.
In 2018, I began writing for Gippsland Lifestyle, a magazine featuring human interest stories, business profiles and current events from across the Cardinia, Gippsland, Bass Coast and the Alpine regions in Victoria. I have written about bushfires, flood disasters, noteworthy citizens, stunning tourism spots, food and wine, arts and entertainment and current affairs.
Over many years, I’ve contributed to many special interest magazines, websites and blogs such as Mamamia.com, Front Row Style, Themes Magazine (Education), Urban Affairs (UDIA- real estate), Bride Magazine, Tourist Magazine, and more.
For over a decade, I worked for community newspapers and the corresponding websites in Canada and Australia. I covered a range of issues including crime, health, education, politics, arts and entertainment, natural disasters, real estate and more. In my roles as a journalist, parenting columnist and chief of staff, I gained a wealth of experience in a range of areas including sourcing, interviewing, photography, coordinating, editing, proofreading.
I left my career in newspapers in 2017 to focus on freelance journalism and creative writing.
A Plan Unravelled was published by Elephant House Press in 2019 and available at all good bookstores.
